The Development of Risk Management in Medicine

Risk Management - In General

Uncertainty and risk exist whenever the future is unknown. From the dawn of history, the human species tried to handle circumstances of uncertainty and the social, political and economic outcomes of such situations. Each one of us takes, on a daily basis, measures to prevent potential risks, and by doing so we perform actions of risk management, even though we don’t call it by that name and we are unaware of it. For example: wearing safety belts, closing the gas, lock our home and so on. This is "informal" risk management. Formal and methodological risk management by organizations is a relatively young science. click for further reading
